In a groundbreaking logistical triumph, Indian-based Express Global Logistics (EXG) has successfully executed a pivotal operation geared towards bolstering Saudi Arabia’s burgeoning green energy sector. This operation, fundamental to the region’s future in green hydrogen energy, involved the transportation of gigantic modules vital to a cutting-edge project.
Monumental Transport: The oversized components, remarkable for their vast dimensions and immense weight, each measuring up to 50 meters and weighing 250 tonnes, comprised a total cargo of nearly 1,500 freight tonnes. Navigating these logistics required EXG to leverage their state-of-the-art Megaload transport systems.
Advanced Equipment: To facilitate the move, EXG deployed advanced Scheuerle modular transporters featuring 48 axle lines, coupled with sophisticated powering and spacing mechanisms capable of supporting the modules’ extraordinary mass. Precision was key, as was ensuring stability and balance.
Innovative Methods: Eight of these massive structures embarked on their journey by sea using the roll-on roll-off (RoRo) method, demonstrating a meticulous approach to maritime balance. The rest were transported overland to a jetty, where they were expertly maneuvered by crawler cranes, illustrating the intricate expertise needed for such complex undertakings.
Earlier this year, EXG solidified their logistical prowess through a powerful partnership with Italy’s Fagioli, enhancing their capabilities under the Megaload venture. This strategic alliance enables EXG to further expand their expertise in managing petrochemical and construction logistics, firmly establishing them at the forefront of executing challenging shipping operations.
